our standards
We don't break boards, bricks or paving slabs. We don't enforce regular timetabled gradings, nor do we make any outrageous claims or false promises - we teach jujitsu, self defence, self awareness and escape strategies; pure and simple and we're happy to include techniques from other martial arts to enhance the overall learning experience.
We pride ourselves on the high standards we've set ourselves over the years. No quickie belts, no junior black belts, no money making incentives to jump the grading queues and no support for the deluded individuals who peddle martial arts correspondence or distance learning courses.
Our black belt instructors follow the traditional time honoured system for dan grades which allow an appropriate number of years to elapse between grades rather than the ridiculous system so popular in Europe and the USA where dan grades are offered on a yearly basis.
minimum operating standards
In 2008 we were team BEDS&LUTON minimum operating standards certified (MOS). This means that ACS MArtial Arts follows accepted guidelines and standards governing child protection, health and safety and equal opportunities.
We also provided support for the School Sport Partnership, activeLuton demonstration sport days and the Get Back Into initiative.
Our best practices include appropriate coach/instructor behaviour towards students and parents, valid CRB certification, basic first aid knowledge, appropriate instructor insurance and a set of regulations applicable for all our students.
